Dear God are we lucky to have Martin Shaw in this world and even luckier that the man has been willing to share the treasures he's found so relentlessly with us all. Martin doesn't just give us new things to look at. He doesn't just give us old things to look at. He gives us new eyes and new ways of looking at old things (as well as old ways of looking at new things). His medicine chest barely closes its so crammed full. Thank God he goes to it so often on our collective behalf.
Wendell Berry once said, “It is easy for me to imagine that the next great division of the world will be between people who wish to live as creatures and people who wish to live as machines." Tess sees this too and, in her relentless and lucid way, helps us to see what's happening right now for what it is. It's something that too few people see right now in the distracting and distracting world we live in. Thank god she's out there.
