I have been lucky in my life to meet and learn from several Elders, many of whom have now passed on. I was told that we need to step up and become the Elders we seek, yet at times I find myself seeking an Elder, but there are none where I live. Thanks for the thought provoking post Tad.
Beautiful. Thanks for this. And like Martin Prechtel reminds us, we are here to make beauty, to feed the Holy in Nature, and by doing this we might grow into elders worthy of descending from, by building a time of hope, beyond now....
Great interview Tad, blew my mind. Thank you for sharing. I'm now in love with the work of Stephen Jenkinson and I will order his book "Come of Age" for sure.
My 2 cents, inspired by the work of my mentor and friend Stephen Harrod Buhner, is that in times and places where there are no human Elders to be found, we can reach out to Tree Elders, Dog Elders, Horse Elders, even Plant Elders. They can teach us too, we just have to show up and be open. Lately I've learned a lot by spending time with 110 year-old Poplar trees.
I hope this can be helpful to some people here with no access to Human Elders in the flesh like me.
